  • Establish a governance cadence; the roadmap becomes a tool for continuous improvement.

Provide a pragmatic evaluation of the organisation's cyber‑security maturity. This is not a penetration test but a high‑level assessment of policies, procedures, vendor controls and staff awareness. It highlights weaknesses and produces a roadmap to reach the desired maturity level.

  • Review existing policies (acceptable‑use, password management, incident response) and ensure they address risks such as malware, phishing, and data breach.
  • Use the Australian ASD Essential Eight strategies as a baseline but also plan to ISO27001 or NIST CSF.
  • Assess third‑party vendors' security posture and ensure contracts include security provisions.
  • Survey staff awareness and provide training recommendations.

  • Define critical IT processes (e.g., service desk, infrastructure management, security, development).Build a RACI matrix showing who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed for each process.
  • Conduct a skills gap analysis: identify important skills, assess current skills using surveys, interviews or performance reviews, and rate them using a numerical scale.
  • Decide whether gaps will be filled by training (courses, mentorship, certifications) or hiring/outsourcing.
  • Produce a capability uplift plan with timelines and budget.
